There has been a lot of experimenting going on; I think it is time to summarize.

Using LSystems in TD

• TD had a LSystem op which we can use to create Penrose tiles

TouchDesigner Documentation

• the geometry information like the node positions can be obtained from the op & this manipulated

Aperiodic Monotiles

• these can be created using a LSystem

Is there an L-system for aperiodic tilings of the plane with the "hat" monotile?

• it requires expert knowledge to see if this can be done using the TD LSystem op

working with SVG data

• an alternate workflow is:

  • create a SVG of the monotile pattern
  • convert the SVG to a point list / JSON data

    • this is manual process at the moment & can be quite time consuming

      • there are some tools that will do conversion online but the require the data as a SVG path & ignore SVG polygons & or they barf on large datasets
      • I was able to partially automate this by exporting point lists using InkScape but every path has to be selected one at a time; an experienced Python developer could create an Inkscape extension to automate this

• this online converter will work with simple SVG files & create JSON output
